Palm Springs Windmills Maternity Photo Shoot
I’ve always had a vision of doing a Palm Springs Windmills Maternity Photo Shoot, even before I became pregnant. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s on at least ONE of my many vision boards! So, in 2020, when I found out I was expecting, I realized that I had the incredible opportunity to bring my vision to life and document my very own pregnancy amidst the iconic Palm Springs Windmills.
In this blog post, I share the behind-the-scenes magic and the emotional journey of creating my own maternity photos in this breathtaking desert landscape.
Location: I did a quick Google search to find out where to go for our Palm Springs Windmills Maternity Photo Shoot. However, upon arrival at the suggested location, we decided to drive around a bit and we found an area that worked for us. It was away from traffic and we were able to park our car and offload without having to worry about traffic and people. I can’t remember the address, however, there are tons of windmills along the Interstate 10, so you won’t have a hard time finding somewhere that fits your vision.
Choosing the Perfect Time: Timing is everything, especially when it comes to outdoor photography. I chose to do my photos early in the am (around 10 am). If I had to do it all over again, I would have gone even earlier because the sun was still pretty harsh even at 10 am. It was also SUPER windy in the area due to all of the windmills, so there were quite a few photos with my hair blowing every which way!
The Photographer Turns Subject: As a photographer, I of course gave myself the task of taking my maternity photos myself. As such, I packed a tripod and a camera remote with me for the trip. They did just the trick!
The photo shoot did get a bit frustrating at times when dealing with the constant wind, the sun, and the dress blowing up into my face. However, in the end, I was SO happy with the results and these are memories that I will cherish forever.
After tackling my own maternity photos, I feel like I can take on the world, lol!
